For a year Gyan lived and painted in the south from northern to southern Georgia.
Gyan Samara has been a plein air painter most of his life. The adventure of life has taken him across the United States from the far northeast to the far southwest, across both boarders and the other side of the Atlantic. He has and continues to paint the rich vivid colors of different parts of the world.
In 2015, Gyan continued to paint primarily in the Chicago neighborhoods of , Andersonville, Lakeview, and Rogers Park. Mid summer, he ventured north to paint the vast lands of Chain O'Lake State Park in Lakes County, Illinois which is just south of the Wisconsin boarder. From there he ventured north into Wisconsin and west, painting farmscapes in and around Kingston Illinois.
In early 2014, Gyan explored with oil pastels and found that he enjoyed the aspect of being able to paint and draw at the same time. Most of the 2014 paintings are of nocturnal scenes of Chicago. He did three paintings while on vacation in Chamonix France.
